Had my interim placement evaluation today. This is the sort of thing I really, really, totally HATE. Its like when you get your appraisal at work....I just want the whole thing to be over as quickly as possible. Its not like I'm usually told a whole lot of negative stuff even...I just find it so embarassing and uncomfortable. One of the nurses told me earlier this week I need to be more confident and show some initiative in joining in. So easy for someone who is confident to say that but they haven't go a clue what its like not to have that level of confidence. But I'm glad I'm not like her as I really think she has very little sensitivity to people who are different from her...and I would hate to be an unsensitive nurse.

I think that they are a few unsensitive nurses and doctors about and i am glad that you are not like that. I think that you will be a brilliant nurse.

Go to the 'Profile' tab at the top of the page Click on 'Modify Profile' Choose your avatar from the drop down list - there are loads to choose from. Took me a while to decide what pic to have but have an elephant tattoo so thought that was most appropriate.

Thanks for that Susan...I have chosen Smurfette as I used to collect smurfs (and still have them at my parents house but their number is being steadily and stealthily depleted as my mother keeps sending them to my sister's little boy!). Awful weather today...got up in the cold, dark, rain and wind to walk the dog and came home to walk the dog in the cold, dark, wind and rain. Oh joy. One more day left in Theatre!!! Yippee! I tried being a 'scrub' nurse yesterday for the first time (i.e. the nurse who hands over the instruments to the surgeon) and was doing my best but one surgeon snapped at me when I didn't understand which instrument she wanted.....that it was my very first time, she has a strong foreign accent and there were so many instruments to learn the name of didn't seem to matter to her......she must have had to learn it all once. Didn't take it personally though as she was being just as unpleasant to the trainee surgeon...telling him he would do a better job if his hands didn't shake....poor guy!

I like the smurfs. I used tolect them too. There is a smurf movie out next summer. Oh dear thats a shame. Glad it wasn't me getting operated on by the guy with shaky hands. At least everyone got grief from her. I hate people that are like that. Everyone has to learn.
